You warned us, you really did, but even so, I was unprepared for the total, comprehensive, all-points awfulness of Disclosure Day -- Emily Blunt excepted. And Josh O'Connor excused. But what a pretentious pastiche, at one moment a horror movie, at the next a thriller, and then a melodrama, with a touch of Bambi, and a slug of sci-fi, with cliche being the common thread that stitches them all together. The only thing missing was a blind cottager to give the fleeing couple shelter. Ah, but I forgot -- Gene Hackman is dead.
This is one of the bigger boomer coded movies I’ve seen in awhile. Network news will save us vis *empathy and understanding * is maybe a more unhinged take on the world than “aliens exist.”
